The World About Us (1967 - 1987): A Bay in the Balance  (1975)

Balmain bugs, gummy sharks, sea pens and ghost shrimps - all part of the network of life that makes Australia's Westernport Bay a focus of attention for the world's marine scientists.  The bay, only a stone's throw from Melbourne, is a playground for that city.  It is also a commercial fishing port and is a potentially valuable industrial port.  Such use has killed other bays, but Westernport is alive and relatively well.  Now, for the first time (in 1975), there is a mjor scientific effort to find out how this network functions before planning its future.
